4 Mass Shootings Across US In Single Night Leave Over 45 Injured, Multiple Dead

Overnight, 48 people were shot in four separate mass shootings across the US. The incidents have culminated in multiple fatalities and several injuries. The incidents occured in Akron, Ohio; Penn Hills, Pennsylvania; Decatur, Georgia; and Louisville, Kentucky.

Akron, Ohio: Twenty-five Shot, One dead

A mass shooting broke out in Akron, Ohio, just after midnight. The incident took place near Kelly Street and 8th Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered dozens of bullet casings and a gun. So far, however, no arrests have been made. The Akron Police Department has disclosed that at least 25 people were shot, with one fatality. While many victims sustained non-threatening life injuries, some are in serious conditions.

Mayor Shammas Malik and Police Chief Brian Harding issued a joint statement on social media. They promised to “bring those responsible to justice.” They also called on anyone with information to come forward anonymously. “Our city is reeling after the devastation of senseless violence,” they said. “With more than two dozen victims, the pain and trauma reverberates across all of Akron today as we search for answers.”

Penn Hills, Pennsylvania: Two Dead, Seven Injured

The early hours of Penn Hills, a suburb of Pittsburgh, saw a shooting at the Ballers Hook claimed the lives of two, and left left seven others injured. Allegheny County Police revealed that an altercation took place inside the bar. This resulted in multiple individuals opening fire. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found the bodies of an adult male and female inside the bar. Seven other victims were either transported from the scene, or they walked into nearby hospitals. One of the victims wasd in critical condition. The police have not disclosed whether the suspects are in custody.

Decatur, Georgia: Eight Injured

A mass shooting incident in Decatur, Georgia left eight people injured. The incident unraveled in a strip club, club Pin Up’s, located on East Ponce de Leon Avenue. DeKalb County Police revealed that they were called to the scene. When they arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds. The victims were subsequently taken to the hospital. Later, five others arrived at various hospitals. Two of the injured were identified as the suspects. They are currently in custody, and investigations are underway.

Louisville, Kentucky: Six Minors Injured

In Kentucky, six minors were shot in the parking lot of a business near Pleasure Ridge Park. The incident took place early Sunday morning. The Louisville Metro Police Department reported that their officers were responding to a report of a shooting. It came from the 7000 block of Raggard Road, around 1:30 a.m. The minors were at a party when the gunfire broke out. Neither of them sustained life-threatening injuries. They were taken to UofL Hospital for medical treatment. So far, no suspects have been identified. The Non-Fatal Shooting Unit nit is still investigating.

In Akron, officials expressed their devotion to public safety. “Our city government and our Akron Police Department will continue to prioritize public safety as our number one concern as we aim to end gun violence in our community,” Mayor Malik and Chief Harding stated.
