42 Players with USHL Ties Selected for 2024 World Junior Hockey Summer Showcase

USA Hockey has announced its roster for the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase which is scheduled for July 26 – Aug. 3 in Plymouth, Mich.

The Showcase serves to identify players who will make up Team USA which will compete at the IIHF World Junior Championship scheduled for Dec. 26, 2024, through Jan. 5, 2025, in Ottawa, Ont.

Other teams participating at the World Junior Hockey Summer Showcase include Canada, Finland and Sweden.  

 

In addition to 11 invitees from the USA Hockey National Team Development Program who saw action in the USHL in 2023-24, 16 players who suited up for club teams in the United States Hockey League during the course of this season were named to participate at this summer’s camp – Carsen Musser (Madison), Hampton Slukynsky (Fargo), Adam Kleber (Lincoln), Tory Pitner (Youngstown), Colin Ralph (Dubuque), Andrew Strathmann (Youngstown), Austin Burnevik (Madison), Trevor Connelly (Tri-City), Jake Fisher (Fargo), Beckett Hendrickson (Dubuque), Chris Pelosi (Sioux Falls), Noah Powell (Dubuque), James Reeder (Dubuque), Jayson Shaugabay (Green Bay), Brandon Svoboda (Fargo) and Mac Swanson (Fargo). An additional 15 players who played in the USHL previously will also attend the camp giving the League a total of 42 players.

 

David Carle, the head coach at the University of Denver and a former assistant coach with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, is serving as head coach of Team USA for the second consecutive year. Other members of the staff include assistant coaches Brett Larson of St. Cloud State, who spent two seasons as the head coach and general manager of the Sioux City Musketeers (2011-13), Steve Miller, who spent the 1984-85 season playing for the Madison Capitols before beginning a lengthy assistant coaching career in the college ranks, Garrett Raboin, who played for the Lincoln Stars (2003-06) and currently serves as the head coach at Augustana University and goalie coach David Lassonde from the NTDP.
