Fordyce Mass Shooting: 9 Injured, 2 Dead In Arkansas Mad Butcher Store

Reports of an active shooter emerged Friday afternoon at a Mad Butcher grocery store on West 4th Street in Dallas County, Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police confirmed that three people were killed in the shootout, including one of the shooters, so far, and nine were injured. A Dallas County Courthouse employee told the outlet that at least four active shooters were involved. Southeast Arkansas Times reported that the suspect was taken into custody and one of the injured is a police officer. The outlet descried the incident as a ‘shootout’ and said that two groups were involved in the shooting and they used ‘AR-15 style weapons.’

The police said that two of the three individuals dead in the incident were police officers. The Arkansas State Police had said earlier that nine people were shot, including the fatalities. However, later they said in a press conference that a total of nine people were injured, including toe fatally. They added that the a total of three people died in the injury and were taken to a hosptals

“At approximately 11:30 a.m. today, Arkansas State Police responded to a shooting incident at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce,” said a news release from Arkansas State Police. “A total of nine civilians were shot, two fatally. One law enforcement officer was also shot and has non-life-threatening injuries.”

Calhoun County Judge Floyd Nutt confirmed to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the suspects have been taken into custody and it is no longer an active shooting scene.

NBC affiliate KARK reported a heavy police presence at the grocery store. First responders were also present heavily at the scene, the report said.

Meanwhile, the Dallas County Sheriff’s office confirmed to the KARK that the shooter was contained. However, the Sheriff’s office said that the scene is still active.

The law enforcement has not released any information on the suspect or the victims.
