After it was revealed that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman in the shooting at former president Donald Trump’s rally could have an account on Discord, the company took action. A Discord spokesperson said in a statement that the account, which could have been Crook’s, has been identified and removed from the platform.

A statement from Discord quoted by Fox News said that Crooks’ account was removed from the platform because of his “off-platform behavior policy.”

“It was rarely utilized, has not been used in months, and we have found no evidence that it was used to plan this incident, promote violence, or discuss his political views,” the statement said about Crooks’ Discord account. “Discord strongly condemns violence of any kind, including political violence, and we will continue to coordinate closely with law enforcement.”

The FBI has said that the shooting is being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism and no ideology or motive has been linked to it, as of now. Crooks was a registered Republican but had recently been disillusioned with the former President and had donated to a 2021 Democrat public fundraiser. Authorities have not yet disclosed if Crooks was linked to any terror group.

Crooks was killed by Secret Service agents at the site of the rally, in Butler, Pennsylvania. One spectator died and two others were injured in it. Trump said that it was an assassination attempt on him, but added that he was fine after the shooting.

Photos surfaced of the former president on the face with blood on his ear and face. He was escorted out of the rally location by security service agents, and according to people who have spoken to him cited in news reports, he is “lively and doing great.”
