Savannah ranked 3rd best U.S. city in Travel + Leisure’s ‘World’s Best Awards’
Savannah recently got some serious love from one of the top tourism magazines in America.
Travel + Leisure released its annual World’s Best Awards, and among those lists was one ranking the top 15 cities in the U.S. Savannah landed the No. 3 spot.
More than 186,000 T+L readers were surveyed with more than 700,000 votes cast across more than 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.). Cities were rated on sights/landmarks, culture, food, friendliness, shopping, and value. For each characteristic, voters could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.

Savannah scored 85.27. Here’s what T+L said about the ‘Hostess City of the South’:
“Readers adore Savannah for its leafy parks, great shopping, carriage rides, and cemetery tours. ‘This is one of my family’s favorite cities,’ said one reader, adding ‘We try to get to Savannah and Tybee Island each year.’ The Starland District, in particular, is thriving these days, with the debut of Hotel Bardo and must-visit restaurants like Brochu’s Family Tradition.”
This was the only Georgia city to make the list and one of only a few in the south. Here is T+L’s list of the top five U.S. cities:
- Charleston, SC with a score of 87.99.
- Sante Fe, NM with 87.43.
- Savannah with 85.27.
- Honolulu with 85.17.
- New Orleans with 84.53.
