Goldman: Brooklyn officials help nail down 3.8M Mega Grant for Brooklyn Marine Terminal Project

RED HOOK — REP. DAN GOLDMAN (D-10) announced on Friday that a coalition of Brooklyn’s elected officials helped to secure a $163.8 million Mega Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the revitalization of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal.

The Biden-Harris Bipartisan Infrastructure grant comes after Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Kathy Hochul, NYCEDC and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced an agreement to transform the 122-acre site, which runs along the Columbia Waterfront District and Red Hook, into a modern maritime port and mixed-use development. Adams on Monday touted the award as “continuing the Adams administration’s unprecedented success in securing federal infrastructure funding.”

Goldman, chair of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal Task Force, led a letter of support to DOT for the grant award. He was joined by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, state Sen. Andrew Gounardes, state Assemblymembers Marcela Mitaynes, Charles Fall and Jo Anne Simon, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Councilmembers Alexa Avilés and Shahana Hanif.
