The Justice Department filed a lawsuit yesterday accusing Visa of illegally monopolizing the debit card market and keeping alternatives from gaining traction. Visa called the lawsuit .

What to know: Attorney General Merrick Garland alleged that Visa’s fees what it could charge in a competitive market. More than 60% of all debit transactions in the U.S. take place on Visa’s network, the complaint said. [CNN]
