Kentucky’s best children’s hospital is in Louisville, according to U.S. News & World Report, which ranked 88 pediatric hospitals from across the country this year.

Norton Children’s Hospital made U.S. News’ rankings in seven pediatric specialties, including cancer (46th), orthopedics (30th), urology (25th) and diabetes and endocrinology (14th).

“We’re honored to be the No. 1 children’s hospital in Kentucky and home to some of the nation’s best specialties in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings,” Norton President and CEO Russell F. Cox said in a statement. “This recognition starts and ends with having an amazing team focusing on a single mission: providing the best care for our patients, families and the community.”

The rankings are intended to be a resource for parents and caregivers looking for the best possible care for a child with a serious illness or complex medical needs, Norton Children’s stated. On its website, U.S. News says it considers clinical outcomes and the coordination of care, among other things, when ranking children’s hospitals.

Diane Scardino, chief administrative officer, said newest national recognition for Norton Children’s “validates the dedication” of the hospital’s staff.

“Their hard work and unwavering commitment to serving patients across Kentucky, Indiana and the region led to these results,” Scardino said in a statement.

U.S. News recognized on its “Honor Roll” 10 pediatric hospitals that had ranked highly in each specialty. One of those hospitals was Cincinnati Children’s.
