Rumors circulating on social media suggest that New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is “considering running for president in 2028.” These claims have sparked a wave of reactions online. Here’s what we know so far –

Origin of the rumor –

The speculation began after The Hill published a report on Thursday discussing potential Democratic candidates who could “lead their party in a 2028 presidential contest.” AOC‘s name was featured on the list of contenders.

Citing a Democratic strategist, the outlet noted that the party has long admired Ocasio-Cortez’s ability to “cut through the BS and tell it like it is.”

“She’s somebody who can cut through the noise and doesn’t talk like Washington,” the strategist added.

Another strategist, however, suggested that her support for centrist candidates might diminish her chances.

“She and the ‘squad’ started pushing too hard, too fast,” the strategist told The Hill. “D.C. doesn’t work that way. And our party doesn’t work that way. We need to get back to the basics.”

Rumors and Reactions –

After the report was published, social media lit up with claims, particularly among MAGA supporters, that the 35-year-old lawmaker was eyeing a 2028 presidential bid.

” AOC is rumored to run for President in 2028 per The Hill. If Dems run her they learned nothing from this election. They’d be doubling down on the hate and division strategy and Bluecry logic. More victim mentality, more DEI, more marginalization, more woke, more loss,” one person reacted.

Another wrote, “She has 0 chance. Any ticket other then her has a better shot.”

A third person commented, “Imagine JD Vance running against that in 2028. He will eat her alive.”

Another user wrote, “I’d actually pay money to watch a debate between AOC and JD Vance. Like I’d pay real physical money.
