U.S. News & World Report: 4 Tri-State hospitals earn top maternity care rankings
CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Four hospitals in the Tri-State area have been recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s latest rankings for Best Hospitals for Maternity Care, specifically for uncomplicated pregnancies. The hospitals received a “high performance” rating based on criteria such as lower-than-average C-section rates, reduced newborn complication rates, and higher breastfeeding rates compared to hospitals not recognized in the report.
Saint Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, TriHealth’s McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, and UC Health’s University of Cincinnati Medical Center were all included in the high-performing category.
In addition to evaluating C-section, complication, and breastfeeding rates, U.S. News & World Report provides expectant parents with further insights into hospital services.
“We also provide information about services that a hospital provides or has available, like whether they have a NICU or whether they have lactation consultants, or midwives, or doulas available,” said Dr. Jennifer Winston, a health data scientist.
