Luigi Mangione, 26-year-old Maryland native has been arrested and questioned on gun charges in connection with last week’s killing of health insurance executive Brian Thompson in Midtown Manhattan that prompted a manhunt up and down the East Coast, the New York Police Department said. According to court officials, Mangione will appear in court in Blair County, Pennsylvania, on Monday at 6 p.m. for a preliminary arraignment over firearms charges.
However, soon after the news of the arrest went viral, ‘FREE HIM’ started to trend on X (formerly Twitter). Social media users urged authorities to free Mangione. Apparently, for many users, Luigi Mangione did the right thing after shooting Brian Thompson.
One user wrote, “This kid did more to fix Americans corruption in one afternoon than the government has managed in 30 years. He’s shown everyone that change is possible and that the only language corruption understands is the threat of retribution.”

As soon as the date of Luigi Mangione’s first court appearance’s time was released, social media users jumped to reflect on it. @SailorAnya wrote on X, “WE WILL BE THERE!”
According to court authorities, Mangione will appear in court in Blair County, Pennsylvania, for a preliminary arraignment on firearms charges at 6 p.m. Eastern time.
