APT Breaks Multiple Guinness World Records, Blackpink Rose Is Highest-Charting Female K-Pop Artist In US
Blackpink member Rosé’s has become the first Korean female solo artiste to have multiple Guinness World Record under her belt. The 27-year-old entered the Billboard Radio Songs Top 10 with her chartbuster APT. This was after her record breaking single featuring Bruno Mars climbed to No. 10 in the ranking.
APT’s Guinness World Records
Rosé is the second Blackpink member to enter the Radio Songs chart after Jennie, who reached No. 48 with her track One of the Girls, in collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.
That’s not all. Rosé’s debut solo album Rosie earned a record too. It made her the highest-charting female K-pop artiste on the US albums chart, after she debuted at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart. Rosie became Top 5 after 102,000 album units.
APT’s journey
APT was released through The Black Label and Atlantic Records on October 18, 2024, as the lead single from Rosé’s debut studio album, Rosie (2024). Inspired by a South Korean drinking game, the song’s chorus is built around the game’s rhythmic chant of apateu. It marked Rosé’s first solo track in three years and her first release since departing from YG Entertainment in 2023.
It broke multiple records by topping the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts for nine weeks. APT has been tagged as Song of the Year, and is also Forbes’ Most-Acclaimed K-Pop Song Of 2024.
In December 2024, APT crossed 700 million views on YouTube, breaking the 12-year-old record of PSY’s iconic 2012 hit Gangnam Style.
