The United States has raised a travel advisory for people travelling to Bangladesh amid “civil unrest”. The State Department has raised Bangladesh’s travel advisory to level three amid deadly protests. The US Government has urged its citizens to reconsider travel to Bangladesh due to “civil unrest”. Massive protests broke out in Bangladesh over student anger against quota system. The protests erupted over 30% of govt job quotas for families of those who fought for independence from Pakistan. The Bangladesh Govt has banned public gatherings and imposed communications restrictions. The US called on Bangladesh to uphold the right to peaceful protest and expressed concern over violence.
