Teddy Stiga’s time in the red, white and blue may not be done.
The 18-year-old Sudbury native was named to Team USA’s 2025 National Junior Team 28-player preliminary roster for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships. That group will attend a training camp in Plymouth, Michigan, on Dec. 16 and 17 before the the final squad is selected ahead of the event, which runs Dec. 26, 2024 through Jan. 5, 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario.
The World Juniors is an annual event for under-20 hockey players. It often attracts the top players in the world from that age category. The U.S. is the defending champion after taking down host country Sweden last year.
Stiga is a freshman playing for Boston College. He has appeared in all 13 games and accumulated nine points with three goals and six assists.
There were six Eagles selected to the camp. That includes 2024 team members Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault, Aram Minnetian and Drew Fortescue as well as fellow freshman James Havens.
Stiga was a member of the U.S. National Team Development program for two years before he enrolled at BC. He appeared in six games at the 2024 IIHF U-18 World Championships and won a silver medal.
The Nashville Predators selected Stiga in the second round (No. 55 overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.
He’s one of three Massachusetts natives on the roster including Leonard, from Amherst, and Newburyport’s Cole Eiserman.
The USA will open tournament play Thursday, Dec. 26 against Germany.
