Brian Thompson Murder: What Could Engraved Bullet Message ‘Deny,’ ‘Defend,’ And ‘Depose’ Mean?

The words ‘Deny, Depose, and Defend’ were engraved on live rounds

The words “Deny, Depose, and Defend” were found engraved on live rounds and shell casings left at the scene by the killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Wednesday. A social media post has since claimed to decode the message, revealing an unsettling connection between the three words and the title of Jay M. Feinman’s book, Delay, Deny, Defend.

The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was shot and killed in Manhattan on Wednesday in an apparent targeted attack, several news websites reported, citing law enforcement sources.

Jay M. Feinman’s Delay, Deny, Defend book is about how insurance companies delay or avoid paying claims. With this, an interesting detail has been noticed that UnitedHealthcare, being an insurance company, aligns with the book’s focus. The book’s description states, “Why insurance companies don’t pay claims and what you can do about it.”

“This is an EARTHQUAKE for corporate America,” read the viral X post in which the user suggested that the killer must have been extremely angry with United Healthcare.

Responding to the tweet, an X user said, “I knew it! I knew the shooter was angry with the insurance company. This screams someone who was probably denied a claim and possibly lost a loved one due to it.”

“I owned a healthcare management firm. United Healthcare was sued 21 times. Each time my clients’, teaching hospitals recovered Pennies on the dollar. United owes Billions in unpaid claims. UHC didn’t pay their claims for their subscribers, nor to the hospitals or the faculty Foundation groups. United Healthcare is the worst of all insurance companies on reimbursement. This man is one of many. The entire Healthcare apparatus is a giant lie. It’s there to take your money or your employer’s money and not pay out. I did this for 25 years. I told everyone yesterday exactly what happened and why. The DOJ was after this man. He sold 16m on stock options. He was getting ready to make a “deal.” another user said.

The New York Police Department has released new photos of the suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The images were reportedly taken inside an Upper West Side hostel, where the suspect is said to have stayed with two other men.

“Below are photos of a person of interest wanted for questioning regarding the Midtown Manhattan homicide on Dec. 4. This does not appear to be a random act of violence; all indications are that it was a premediated, targeted attack,” NYPD said in a post on X.

“The full investigative efforts of the NYPD are continuing, and we are asking for the public’s help—if you have any information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). There is a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.”
