A viral article on X claims that President-elect Donald Trump has an IQ of 73, sparking reactions and memes. According to the article, Trump’s IQ was tested during his first year at New York Military Academy and the results were discovered in a former NYMA employee’s closet in Brooklyn.
The article details how the document, said to be in the process of authentication, was uncovered by William Askew Jr. while cleaning out his late father’s apartment. Askew, whose father allegedly worked as the school counselor at NYMA from 1955 to 1985, explained that although his father didn’t administer the tests, he was responsible for collecting and sending them to the grading office. The article claims that Askew presented additional documents and photos confirming his father’s employment at NYMA during Trump’s time there.
“I don’t think this should be news to anybody,” Askew said. “The guy’s clearly a total moron.”
The Truth –
The same claim surfaced in May 2019, alleging that Trump’s IQ was measured at 73 during his high school years, categorizing him as “well below average.” However, the article is entirely fake and never appeared in any legitimate source.
Reactions –
The article’s resurgence on Thursday prompted a wave of reactions and memes on X.
“While the IQ of 73 image is fake misinformation, I definitely don’t doubt that Donald Trump isn’t that smart of a person. He paid someone to take his SAT & his late sister Maryanne would often do his homework for him. There are other factors at play that define his appeal,” one person commented.
Another wrote, “Any idiot would know that an IQ of 73, would literally make him severely mentally handicapped and living in a group home. But the left is willing to buy anything that reinforces their beliefs.”
