Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris US Presidential Debate: When and where to watch Democrat-Republican showdown

The United States is preparing for the second general election debate between Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump. This debate is scheduled for September 11 at 9 pm ET, taking place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The debate follows President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the election on July 21 and his endorsement of Vice President Harris. Biden’s move came after internal criticism within his party concerning his capacity for another term, notably after an uneven debate performance against Trump in June.

ABC News will host the 90-minute debate, and it will be moderated by “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis.

New debate rules include live microphones only for the candidate whose turn it is to speak, muting during the other’s allotted time. Only moderators are permitted to ask questions.

A virtual coin toss on Tuesday decided the order for closing statements and podium positions. Trump won the toss and opted to give the final closing statement, while Harris chose the right podium on stage left.

There will be no opening statements. Each candidate will get two minutes for a closing statement. For each question, two minutes are allocated for answers, with an additional two minutes for rebuttals, and a minute for follow-ups.Debate participants will stand behind podiums and are prohibited from using props or pre-written notes. They are allowed a pen, paper, and a bottle of water. Campaign staff cannot interact with the candidates during breaks. The debate will be broadcast live on ABC News, ABC News Live 24/7 streaming network, and Fox News. Streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu will also provide live coverage.

A pre-debate special, “Race for the White House,” will air at 8 pm ET on ABC News, featuring anchors Martha Raddatz, Jonathan Karl, Mary Bruce, and Rachel Scott.
