Harris continues media blitz with appearance on The View: Live

Kamala Harris calls out Donald Trump’s ‘lack of empathy’

Donald Trump sent Vladimir Putin Covid-19 testing machines at the height of the pandemic, according to a new book by veteran Watergate journalist Bob Woodward. The former president also spoke with the Russian leader as many as seven times after leaving the White House, it alleges.

The Trump campaign has called the stories “made up” and Woodward “demented and deranged” and a “sleazebag”.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with the co-hosts of ABC’s The View on Tuesday morning to discuss the campaign and her proposal for Medicare to cover at-home care for seniors.

The Democrat nominee is undertaking a media blitz, having appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Monday on which she was pressed on her economic plan, US support for Ukraine and Israel, and her experiences as a gun owner.

“I believe that the people of America want a leader who is not trying to divide us and demean,” she said of rival Trump.

Harris is currently on Howard Stern’s radio show and later is a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her running mate Tim Walz was also grilled on 60 Minutes and made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show.

Howard Stern: Harris asked about relationship with second gentleman

Among the more personal details touched on during the interview by Stern, we learned that Harris likes to watch MSNBC’s Morning Joe while working out (30 minutes on an elliptical) and her favorite cereal is Special K.

Stern asks if it was hard to make a “love connection” with Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and says he thinks most men would be intimidated by her.

She responds that Emhoff is “one of the strongest, most self-actualized men I’ve known,” she says. “He has the best sense of humor. I don’t want to say simple but he’s very clear: He cares about family, he cares about working hard.”

Howard Stern: With so much pressure on her Stern asks Harris if she can talk to a therapist

Howard Stern describes the prospect of Trump winning is “dark” — “The sun is literally going to go out” — and says he is “really afraid that good people … are discouraged from going into public service now.”

“With all the pressure on you … you can’t go to a therapist, can you?”

“This is my form of therapy with you Howard,” Harris said, laughing.

“Could you go and talk to someone like a therapist and get therapy?” he persists.

“I have the great fortune of having an incredible group of friends. My best friend from kindergarten is still one of my best friends. … I do have people in my life I can talk to.”

Howard Stern: Harris calls Trump ‘sore loser’

Stern: “‘If I win, it is a fair election. If I lose, Kamala Harris and her buddies fixed it.’ That’s delusional!”

Harris: “In America, we call that a sore loser.”

Howard Stern: Harris says no need to abandon faith to believe in right to make choices about own body

In their discussion about abortion rights and Trump’s role in overturning Roe v Wade, Harris says: “He hand-selected three members … to do exactly what they did. … I ask people to take a step back … whatever your gender, and it’s not about abortion. You have basically, now, a system that says you as an individual do not have the right to make a decision about your own body. The government has no right to make that decision for you.”

She adds: “For the first time we’re seeing a restriction of rights, fundamental rights. What could be more fundamental about making decisions about your own body? … This issue is not about trying to convert people. One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs.”

Howard Stern: What went through Harris’s head during infamous ‘eating pets’ moment of debate

Stern asks Harris what went through her head during the presidential debate against Donald Trump when he was talking about people eating pets: “Did you say to yourself, ‘I just won this thing’?”

Harris replied: “There were a couple of moments in the debate that were surreal.”

She went on to say that there were 60 million people tuned in, and they “want to know where do [the candidates] stand on the issues, how will they lead and how will that make a difference in my life”.

“One of those people … talked about people eating pets” and “personal grievances,” she said.

“There were moments on the debate stage where I was — I knew what he did at his rallies, but this was a very serious moment. He was talking about things that were factually untrue and quite ridiculous but not talking about bringing down the costs of groceries, not talking about building back America’s businesses.”

Howard Stern Show: Harris says election is about ‘strength versus weakness’

In her interview with radio presenter Howard Stern, Kamala Harris told him that the election was about “strength versus weakness”.

“This election is about strength vs. weakness. The weakness of someone who puts himself before the American people. Who does not have the strength to stand for their needs and make sure we’re a secure nation.”

Kamala Harris Tells Howard Stern ‘This Election Is About Strength Versus Weakness’

Regarding reporting by Bob Woodward that Donald Trump sent Covid-19 tests to Vladimir Putin at the height of the pandemic for his personal use, Harris said: “People in America were struggling to get tests, and this guy is sending them to Russia, to a murderous dictator for his personal use? That is just the most recent stark example of who Trump is.”
