Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump are running a close race, with just two weeks left in the US presidential campaign. They are focusing on swing states.

Harris headed out on Monday to meet with voters in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. She invited along a prominent Trump critic, former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, to make a bipartisan appeal. “Please just help us get the word out to your neighbors and friends and family members to just remind them of what is at stake in this conversation,” Harris said. “I ask for your vote, I ask for their vote, and I promise to be a president for all Americans.”

Trump visited another battleground state, North Carolina, to see the damage caused last month by Hurricane Helene. He criticized White House officials for their response to the disaster, claiming he would have done a better job. “I will slash through every bureaucratic barrier that you’re having already and having problems with right now,” he said. “I will personally recruit businesses from all over the world to help restore the prosperity to the region.”

Analysts with the news site RealClearPolitics suggest Harris has an average lead in national polls with 49.2 percent of the vote. They say Trump has 48.3 percent, but they say he has a slight lead in all seven battleground states.
