‘Laughing stock all over the world’: Trump calls US ‘disaster’, blasts ‘open borders’ and ‘weak leadership’ following New Orleans, Vegas attacks – Times of India

President-elect Donald Trump called US a “disaster” and a “laughing stock all over the world” on Thursday after the terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and a cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas.
The US observed bloodshed during New Year’s Eve after 15 people were killed in New Orleans as a former US Army serviceman, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove a pickup truck into a crowd on January 1.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing ‘terrorist’ links in the case and police superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick described the 42-year-old perpetrator as a “terrorist.” According to FBI, “an ISIS flag was located in the vehicle.”
In another incident, an individual lost his life and seven others sustained injuries after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning.
Reacting to the incident, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the incident “appears likely to be an act of terrorism.” “Both this Cybertruck and the F-150 suicide bomb in New Orleans were rented from Turo. Perhaps they are linked in some way,” Musk wrote on X.
In a fiery post, Trump called the US a “disaster” and a “laughing stock all over the World!”
“This is what happens when you have OPEN BORDERS, with weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership,” he wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform.
He further slammed the Justice Department, the FBI and Democrat state and local prosecutors.
“They are incompetent and corrupt, having spent all of their waking hours unlawfully attacking their political opponent, ME, rather than focusing on protecting Americans from the outside and inside violent SCUM that has infiltrated all aspects of our government, and our Nation itself,” Trump said. “Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen to our Country,” he added.
He further asserted that the CIA should get involved in the cases “before it is too late.”
“The USA is breaking down – A violent erosion of Safety, National Security, and Democracy is taking place all across our Nation,” Trump said. “Only strength and powerful leadership will stop it. See you on January 20th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
