Lilly King, Team USA take home Gold with World Record time in final Olympic race
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Lilly King is returning back to Evansville with a Gold medal for USA at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games!
The Tri-State native joined her American teammates to compete against the world’s best in the Women’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay.
During the race, the United States broke the world record and beat out Australia for the most swimming Gold medals at the 2024 Olympics.
King announced before the Paris Games that this would be her final time competing at the Olympic level.
During the 100m Breaststroke Finals, King tied for fourth and missed out on a Bronze medal by a hundredth of a second.
A few days later, she placed 8th in the 200m Breaststroke Final.
King holds the World Record for the 100m Breaststroke event with the blazing fast time of 1:04.13 she set in 2017.
14 News spoke with her parents, and they tell us it’s been a dream come true to watch their daughter compete on the world stage and reflect on the journey.
Congratulations to Lilly King on her incredible Olympic career and thank you for representing Evansville and our country!
