Loose Threads: Ksubi, Outland Denim, Frame
Here’s a quick roundup of the latest news from leading denim brands.
Ksubi
Ksubi celebrated the reopening of its New York City flagship during fashion week.
Located at 26 Greene Street in Soho, the Australian streetwear and denim brand partnered with Legeard Studio, the design studio responsible for its Miami and Chicago stores, for the store’s redesign. Concrete finished walls are accented with red marble, stainless steel display cases and racks suspended on industrial chains. A refreshed lounge area and changing rooms with newly installed neon lights continue to enhance the customer experience for Ksubi shoppers.
“Through contemporary design, we wanted to embody the brand’s signature rebellious style but also incorporate elements that were distinctively Soho. We wanted to create a space for Ksubi’s community that felt like an extension of the city but also communicated Ksubi’s eye for luxury, craftsmanship and meticulous detail,” said Fernanda Ruelas, designer at Legard Studio.
Ksubi marked the reopening with a party during New York Fashion Week. Models Delilah Belle, Bell Hamlin, Selah Marley and rappers A$AP TyT, Maiya The Done, TiaCorine, Rich Amiri and more were among the attendees.
Outland Denim
Australian denim brand Outland denim recently launched a collection made with 100 percent regenerative cotton.
“Regenerative agriculture is more than a trend—it’s a commitment to restoring soil health, enhancing biodiversity, fostering social equity,” the brand stated.
The collection includes the Deni maxi skirt, a 13 oz. rigid skirt with a center back split, and the Bianca Mid Wide Leg, a jean with carpenter detailing. Both styles are available in white and retail for $285-$300.
Regenerative cotton is another tool in Outland’s arsenal of sustainable ingredients. The B Corp has achieved full traceability for its organic cotton supply chain. It also makes its denim with zero harmful chemicals and innovative water and energy reducing technology.
Levi’s
Levi’s and Awake NY closed out New York Fashion Week with an exclusive New York capsule collection.
The four-piece unisex collection includes the Overdye Super Baggy jeans and Type 1 Trucker jacket in green overdye, oversized raw indigo denim shorts with contrasting pink stitching and a T-shirt featuring both brands’ logos.
The two brands teamed up in 2020 on a Levi’s Authorized Vintage collection.
The capsule launched on Saturday and is available at Awake NY’s store in New York City and on its website.
Frame
TikTok personality and podcaster Alix Earle is the newest face of Frame.
Earle stars in the campaign for Frame’s Le Sleek Straight jean, a modern take on a classic straight jean cut from cotton, lyocell and elastane stretch denim that retains its shape throughout the day.
Earle channels several iconic styles in the campaign. She wears the Le Sleek Straight jean in Stargirl, a dark indigo wash, with Frame’s boatneck striped shirt for a Brigitte Bardot-inspired look. She sports a ’70s rocker vibe in a velveteen version of the jeans.
The premium lifestyle brand unveiled the campaign last week during New York Fashion Week. Frame and Earle hosted a dinner at Mr. Chow’s to celebrate the launch. Guests included models Joan Smalls Taylor Hill and Toni Garn and musician Charlotte Lawrence.
