Love looking at Christmas lights? Maine has one of the best displays in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The digital media company just released a list of the 28 best Christmas light displays in 2024, and it included Gardens Aglow in Boothbay, Maine. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Gardens Aglow is an outdoor display that showcases over 750,000 lights throughout the scenic Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
Here’s everything to know about how to see the garden decked out in holiday cheer.
About Gardens Aglow
Titled on their website as Maine’s premiere light show, Gardens Aglow transforms the coast’s botanical gardens into an enchanting lit forest with mushrooms, Christmas trees and shooting stars. The garden’s most popular display is two giant trolls, Roskva and Lilja, who will be illuminated for all to see.
When you finish walking the mile-long path through the garden, be sure to check out the surrounding Boothbay community for more festive lights. According to U.S. News & World Report, “Lights extend beyond the gardens thanks to the Boothbay Lights. Communities in Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor set their towns and homes aglow while hosting parades, events, shopping sales and more.”
How to go to Gardens Aglow
Tickets to Gardens Aglow cost $21 for adults, $12 for children 3-17 or $18 for veterans and seniors 65 or older.
Gardens Aglow will run on Thursday-Sunday from Nov. 29 through Dec. 31, with arrival times at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The event will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
