Mayo Clinic once again listed as a top hospital by U.S. News & World Report

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – U.S. News & World Report has announced the 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings on Tuesday and Mayo Clinic is once again on the list.

Now in its 35th year of annual rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals in more than 30 medical and surgical services.

This year, for the first time, U.S. News also identified Best Regional Hospitals for Equitable Access, highlighting 98 hospitals for their success in caring for patients from historically underserved communities.

Mayo Clinic was listed as a best hospital in the Honor Roll and was also ranked in four specialty categories.

Top five hospitals in selected specialties are as follows:

Cancer

  1. University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX)
  2. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY)
  3. Mayo Clinic-Rochester (Rochester, MN)
  4. Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center (Boston, MA)
  5. City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center (Duarte, CA)

Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery

  1. Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, OH)
  2. NYU Langone Hospitals (New York, NY)
  3. Mayo Clinic-Rochester (Rochester, MN)
  4. Mount Sinai Hospital (New York, NY)
  5. New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell (New York, NY)

Neurology & Neurosurgery

  1. NYU Langone Hospitals (New York, NY)
  2. Mayo Clinic-Rochester (Rochester, MN)
  3. UCSF Health-UCSF Medical Center (San Francisco, CA)
  4. New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell (New York, NY)
  5. Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore, MD)

Orthopedics

To calculate the Best Hospitals rankings, U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care.

A hospital that has earned a “Best” designation may be a good option for consumers and caregivers, in consultation with their medical provider, to consider.
