OSU ranked ‘Best Value’ public university in Oklahoma by US News and World Report – Oklahoma State University

For the third straight year, Oklahoma State University has received the highest “best
value” ranking among public institutions in Oklahoma. 

That’s according to the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings, which were released
Tuesday. 

According to the publication, “The best value ranking takes into account a school’s
academic quality and the 2023-2024 net cost of attendance for an out-of-state student who received the average
level of need-based financial aid.”  

OSU moved up five spots in the best value public institution rankings to No. 167,
placing it in the top half of universities nationwide. 

In 2022, OSU unveiled a comprehensive strategy to become the nation’s preeminent land-grant institution. The plan includes specific
targets for increasing student access, affordability, retention and enrollment, all
while promoting an efficient OSU System with a focus on addressing society’s most
pressing challenges.

In March, OSU again earned a AA- credit rating from industry-leading agencies S&P
Global and Fitch, cementing it as the most fiscally responsible university system
in Oklahoma for the ninth straight year. This summer, the OSU/A&M Board of Regents
unanimously voted to freeze tuition and mandatory fees for the third consecutive year
at OSU, marking five out of the last six years without increases. The decision underscored
the board’s desire to make an OSU college education more accessible and affordable
for students and their families.

Following board approval, OSU President Kayse Shrum expressed appreciation for the
regents’ support for holding the line on tuition and mandatory fees.

“The decision reflects our shared commitment to affordability through prudent management
of our financial resources,” Dr. Shrum said. “The OSU community’s dedication to solid
financial management allows us to fulfill our land-grant mission to provide access
for as many students as possible to a high-quality college education.”

OSU’s Spears School of Business tied for 77th in the undergraduate business school
ranking, rising seven spots. 

The university’s largest jump in the U.S. News and World Report rankings came in the
undergraduate economics programs category, which saw OSU move up 40 spots from the
previous year. The program is now tied at 161st.
