Plea submitted in SC to take charges against Adani by US court on record

A fresh plea was filed in the Supreme Court on November 23 to take on record the charges on Gautam Adani and seven others by the US prosecutors against the alleged bribery and fraud case.
The plea sought an investigation by central agencies into the allegations of the US.
The petitioner has also called for a report by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on the probe carried out till now in the Adani-Hindenburg case.
Despite the deadline given by the SC on January 3 this year, SEBI has not filed any report or conclusions of the investigations till now, as per the plea.
Adani Group founder and chairman Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani have received a formal summons about the $265 m (₹2,200 cr) bribery case by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to reports, the summons were sent to Adani’s Shantivan farm residence in Ahmedabad and Sagar’s residence in Bodakdev, Ahmedabad.
The SEC has requested a response within 21 days, according to reports.
The Eastern District of New York court on November 20 charged Gautam Adani and seven others with multiple counts of fraud.
They were accused of bribing Indian government officials to secure solar energy supply contracts and misrepresenting their anti-bribery practices to investors.
