The wait is finally over! The Last of Us Season 2 just dropped its first look, and it’s got fans buzzing. HBO released a teaser on Thursday, narrated by none other than Catherine O’Hara, who is set to guest star in the highly-anticipated new season. While her character remains a mystery, she appears to be playing a therapist guiding Joel (Pedro Pascal) through the trauma of Season 1 – an entirely new addition not seen in the game.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Teaser Out

Taking to their official X handle on Thursday, Max dropped the teaser trailer of The Last Of Us’ Season 2, leaving fans intrigued. Season 2 picks up five years after the events of the first season, where Joel and Ellie’s past comes back to haunt them, pulling them into conflicts with each other and the brutal, ever-evolving world around them. It sees Catherine O’Hara saying, “You can’t heal something unless you’re brave enough to say it out loud. Say the thing that you’re afraid to say. Say it out loud, no matter what it is. No matter how bad. What did you do?” She is seen telling this to Pedro Pascal’s Joel as he is seen in a therapy session after the massacre he’s saw in the previous season.

The teaser was dropped on “Outbreak Day,” the anniversary of the cordyceps virus that kick-started the chaos in the series, marking 11 years since the world of The Last of Us came to life on September 26.

More On The Last Of Us Season 2

While there’s no official release date just yet, the new season is expected to drop in the first half of 2025. Creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann previously spilled to Deadline that this season will be a tighter seven-episode run, with one episode set to be a “big one” in terms of length.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are back as Joel and Ellie, along with Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. New faces include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, and a lineup of fresh characters played by Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, and Jeffrey Wright.

The Last of Us is helmed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television, and supported by PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
