The bonhomie between Donald Trump and Elon Musk after the 78-year-old’s election victory earlier this month has been a thing to behold. They have been spotted together on multiple occasions and even reportedly got on call with some of the world leaders along with the President-elect. However, experts think Trump was ill at ease during the SpaceX rocket launch Tuesday.

Trump joined Musk at the Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas on Tuesday for the launch of the sixth test flight of the Starship flight. A number of photos and videos from the occasion went viral on social media with the billionaire and the President-elect hand-in-gloves at the event.

However, according to a former police officer and a body language expert, Trump appeared intimidated by Musk at the launch. Darren Stanton, a former police officer and a body language expert, told UK-based news outlet The Telegraph that the President-elect looked like “fish out of water” at the Starbase in Texas.

“It’s very rare that we see Trump do these self reassurance gestures,” Stanton said. “He was playing with his pockets, but he didn’t put his hands in his pockets… it’s the anxiety of not knowing what to do with your hands.”

“Trump was very uneasy… usually he comes over as this alpha male, the most empowered, most powerful person in the room. I think he’s quite intimidated by Musk,” Stanton added. “He was out of his depth – his hands were just by his side like a mannequin.”

Stanton said that Trump avoided his usual assertive gestures, appearing unusually submissive, comparable only to his demeanor with Vladimir Putin, according to Stanton.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, who previously voted for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, endorsed Trump in June and reportedly invested $200 million in his re-election campaign. Trump has given him the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) along with Vivek Ramaswamy.
