During a speech he gave at Trump‘s Doral golf course in Miami, former President Donald Trump has challenged incumbent President Joe Biden to an 18-hole golf match. He even offered a $1 million charity bet if he loses.

Trump took to the stage to address a packed house at his Doral course on Tuesday. There, he mocked Biden’s golfing skills, expressing confidence in his own capabilities. He even proposed giving Biden a 20-stroke advantage. “It will be among the most-watched sporting events in history,” Trump declared. “Maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters.” He first made the offer during their previous debate, declaring that he would donate $1 million to a charity of Biden’s choice if he lost.

However, despite the taunt after taunt, Biden dismissed the challenge. Biden’s spokesperson James Singer said, in a statement, “Joe Biden doesn’t have time for Donald Trump’s weird antics. He’s busy leading America and defending the free world. Donald Trump is a liar, a convict, and a fraud only out for himself – par for the course.”

Trump, 78, seemingly undeterred, declared that Biden wouldn’t accept the challenge. “I would bet,” he said. “‘Cause he’s all talk.” Trump also pointed that such a match between the two would draw a surge in viewership. He claimed that it could even surpass major golf events like the Ryder Cup and the Masters.

Trump first brought up the golf games during a contentious debate on June 27. A confident Trump ridiculed Biden’s swing and challenged him to prove himself on the course. Regardless, Biden showed no interest in humoring the duel.

Singer, in his statement, also criticised Trump’s recent behavior and track record. “Donald Trump hasn’t been seen in public for 12 days; now he’s inviting fictional serial killers to dinner, teasing lil’ Marco Rubio, praising Project 2025 architect Tom Homan, and challenging the President of the United States to golf,” Singer remarked. He further added, “We’d challenge Donald Trump to create jobs, but he lost 3 million. We’d challenge Donald Trump to stand up to Putin, but he bent the knee to him. We’d challenge Donald Trump to follow the law, but he breaks it.”

Despite the hype, it seems unlikely that the match will take place. While Trump seems eager to take this bet to the course, Biden seems to be focusing on leading the country.
