U.S. News and World Report ranks K-State engineering programs among best graduate programs in nation

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – U.S. News and World Report ranked the Kansas State University engineering programs among the best graduate programs in the nation.

According to Kansas State University officials, their graduate programs in biological and agricultural engineering and civil engineering each rose in the 2024 edition of the publication’s Best Graduate Schools for Engineering list. The biological and agricultural engineering graduate program rose three spots over its previous ranking, coming in at No. 12 nationally, while the civil engineering graduate program rose eight spots No. 69.

“We are pleased to see the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering be represented so well in these rankings,” said Matt O’Keefe, dean of engineering and LeRoy C. and Aileen H. Paslay chair in engineering at K-State. “It reflects the hard work of our faculty and staff to build these programs and achieve at the highest levels nationally, as well as the value of an advanced engineering degree from Kansas State University. We will continue to build on this progress as we join in supporting K-State’s overall vision to be the next-generation land-grant university.”

K-State officials said U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 2,200 academic programs as part of its ranking process, utilizing input from deans, program directors and senior faculty from across the country as well as statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and post-graduate outcomes for students.

Both the Carl and Melinda Helwig Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees. Learn more about graduate programs offered by the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.
