U.S. News & World Report ranks care at Powers Health among the best for 2024-25

Community Hospital in Munster has been named by U.S. News & World Report to its list of 2024-25 Best Regional Hospitals. The ranking helps patients and their doctors choose the right hospital for them.

Community Hospital ranks as the fourth best hospital in Indiana, as well as one of only two Best Regional Hospitals in Northern Indiana. Community Hospital also ranks as 18th Best Regional Hospital in the Chicago area. Only 11 percent of U.S. hospitals earned a numerical ranking.

U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals in more than 30 medical and surgical services. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes and patient experience.

High honors continued across Powers Health. St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago join Community Hospital in earning status as a High Performing Hospital in certain areas of care. Only 38 percent of the evaluated hospitals achieved at least one High Performing rating.

Community Hospital received High Performing status in colon cancer surgery and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); diabetes; heart attack; heart failure; kidney failure; leukemia/lymphoma/myeloma; and pneumonia.

St. Catherine Hospital received High Performing status in maternity care (uncomplicated pregnancy). St. Mary Medical Center received High Performing status in treatment of COPD; heart attack; heart failure; kidney failure; and pneumonia.
