UF Health ranked in U.S. News World Report

U. S. News and World Report ranked seven University of Florida Health Shands Hospital medical specialties among the best in the nation in its 2024-25 “Best Hospitals” report. These results mark UF Health as an elite health system, based on U.S. News’ metrics.

UF’s neurology and neurosurgery ranked No. 33, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) ranked No. 35, urology ranked No. 38, obstetrics and gynecology ranked No. 41, geriatrics ranked No. 43, orthopedics ranked No. 46, and pulmonology and lung surgery ranked No. 48), its 15th consecutive year ranked among the nation’s best.

Out of the 4,500 eligible hospitals surveyed, only 160 are ranked in the nation’s top 50 in at least one specialty, according to a UF press release.

UF Health’s adult specialties of cancer, cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, and gastrointestinal and gastrointestinal surgery were also rated as “high performing,” that is, among the top 10% nationally.

UF Health Shands is also “high performing” in 17 adult procedures and treated conditions, including aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gynecological cancer surgery, heart attack, heart failure, hip fracture, hip replacement, knee replacement, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, lung cancer surgery, pneumonia, prostate cancer surgery, spinal fusion, stroke, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
