Upward Movement in US News Rankings Includes Highest-Ever Innovation Rating
Georgia Tech was once again recognized among the nation’s top public universities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings. The various recognitions in these 2025 rankings reflect the Institute’s strategic focus on innovation, academic excellence, and accessibility.
Rising in National Prestige
Georgia Tech climbed to ninth place among public universities nationally and held steady at No. 33 among both public and private national universities.
“Georgia Tech provides one of the best value propositions for students in the nation, and I’m delighted to see our work recognized by the media,” said Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera. “Our focus on fostering innovation, supporting students from all backgrounds, and preparing them for leadership roles is paying off.”
Engineering and Business Excellence
Georgia Tech remains a leader in undergraduate engineering education, with the College of Engineering ranked fourth nationally. Industrial engineering continues to hold the top spot nationally in its category, with civil engineering also earning a No. 1 ranking. Meanwhile, the aerospace, biomedical, computer, mechanical, and materials engineering programs all ranked in the top four among all universities across the nation.
The Scheller College of Business also achieved notable rankings, climbing to No. 18 in undergraduate business programs — with several programs featured in the top 10. Analytics, quantitative analysis, and management information systems are among the standout areas.
College of Computing Achievements
The College of Computing continues to excel, receiving top-10 rankings in multiple areas, including artificial intelligence at No. 5, and cybersecurity and software engineering both ranking at No. 2. These accolades underscore the College’s leadership in advancing research and developing cutting-edge curricula that prepare students for impactful careers in technology and innovation.
Elevating the College Experience
Georgia Tech remains dedicated to enhancing the student experience through hands-on learning and professional development.
The Institute’s strategic focus on innovation paid off as, for the first time, it ranked second nationally in the Most Innovative category. And it ranked third for co-op and internship programs, and eighth for undergraduate research opportunities. The Institute also ranked No. 31 in the Best Undergraduate Teaching category.
“While these rankings are a useful tool for evaluating colleges, other resources are also available,” said Cabrera. “So, we encourage students and families to research thoroughly to find the best fit for a rewarding college experience.”
