When is the Copa America 2024 being played?

This edition of the Copa America will be held in June and July 2024. It was originally scheduled for mid-2023, but FIFA required that the tournament go hand-in-hand on the calendar with the European Championship, so it was postponed.

The opening date of the competition is June 20, 2024 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, while the final will be on July 14 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami .

Where will the Copa America 2024 be played?

On Friday, January 27, and after much speculation, South American governing body CONMEBOL, together with North and Central American equivalent CONCACAF, confirmed that  the Copa America 2024 will be held in the United States.

Initially, CONMEBOL had stated that Ecuador would be the host of the tournament, which it last held in 1993. However, in 2020 Alejandro Dominguez, the president of CONMEBOL, clarified that Ecuador had only made an application to host.

In November 2022, Francisco Egas, the president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, expressed that his country would not be in a position to host the Copa America, after having hosted the final of the 2022 Copa Libertadores.

Since then, several different possible venues have been mentioned, both South American countries and even members of CONCACAF: the United States, Canada and Mexico will host the 2026 World Cup and it had been suggested using the Copa America as a test event, as Qatar did in 2021 with the organization of the Arab Cup.

In 2016, the United States already hosted a special edition of the Copa America, the Copa America Centenario, so in the end they were the obvious choice.
